Don't Ever Give Up
Friday, April 24, 2009 @ Work and Play
Yo peeps.

It's been a damn long while since i blogged.

Been very busy with school work.. can u imagine.. only the 1st week of school and i'm already busy with school work.

So far, just within 4 days, i've already done up about 12-13 or more pages of sketches and design.

Okay, maybe lesser, but crazy man. that's all done in just 4 days.

that just shows how much work we have to do EVEN IF it's just designing.

Imagine u have to transform a complicated 2D picture into a 3D and come up with variations... man i tell you your brain cells will all die man.. seriously.

I will blog about Camp X some other time.

On the other hand, i've already signed up for basketball and the trial should be coming soon.

To say the truth... I'm all ready to face the ugly fact that i won't be selected.

I have no experience. I have some issues with my basics.

Worst of all, i have to go against other Freshmen to fight for the right to be on the Champion team.

Yes, you heard me. Temasek Poly is the Champion team of the POLY/ITE Competition.

Of course i will still give it my best even if i wont be selected.

No regrets right.

Within just this short period of about 3 months of casual playing.

I've improved so much. I'm not proud or boasting but i really really have improved tremendously even if it isn't enough.

I used to be a totally hopeless shooter.

Now what do i get... I get compliments that my strokes are nice. (Meaning the way my hands release the ball.)

I'm a pretty reliable shooter as of now. When i get the stroke and open space, i can keep getting them through the net.

I used to be unable to do a proper layup.

Now i'm getting better at my lay-ups (But of course still not good enough)

I'm able to react at times to dodge hands and lay the ball in.

I used to be a chiongster.

All i knew was to get the ball, hit and hit and hit.

Now i look before i even move.

Look for open space. Look for opportunities. Look for high-percentage shots.

Most importantly, TIMING IS THE MOST IMPORTANT.

Yes, now we know basketball isn't all physical. Mentality and thinking works in the game.

Of course i have so much more to work on.

Lay-ups, rebounds, passing, dribbling, defense, timing, stamina, hustle play. Most of all, to remain calm and dare to challenge others and learn from them. ( i shall not reveal too much)

Let's just do my best for the upcoming trial.

All the best to Miami HEAT for 2009 playoffs!

Tomorrow's the human wheelbarrow challenge by the way... Go go design!!

Ciao!
